Macron was initially expected on Monday morning to arrive in Albania to participate in the 9th summit of the Berlin process, which brings together the leaders of the Western Balkans and several European countries to promote political dialogue, cooperation and reconciliation in region, as well as the rapprochement with the European Union.

For the first time, the summit of the Berlin Process will be held outside the borders of the European Union and Tirana has been chosen to organize this summit.

The participation of the German Chancellor, Olaf Scholz, the President of France, Emmanuel Macron, as well as the President of the European Council, Charles Michel, has so far been confirmed at the summit.

Meanwhile, the President of the European Commission, Ursula von der Leyen, arrived in Albania today and was welcomed at Rinas airport by Minister Elisa Spiropali and the EU Ambassador in Tirana, Luigi Soreca.

Before the summit, Von der Leyen met with President Bajram Begaj. She then met with Prime Minister Edi Rama and both of them participated in the opening ceremony of the third branch of the European College of Bruges in Tirana.
