Albania is still a relatively undiscovered gem in terms of mass tourism, yet it can provide unspoiled beaches and turquoise seas for those wanting to enjoy a vacation away from the tourist crowds. Here are the ten most beautiful beaches.

Considered the coolest beach in Albania, Drymades features a long stretch of clear sand and white pebbles, with vividly colored and crystal-clear waters, tall olive trees, trendy venues, beach bars, fast food joints, pizzerias, camping sites, and local markets.

Dhërmi Beach is one of the most famous in Albania. It’s a several-kilometer-long strip graced by deep blue waters. Nestled between a mountain range and the sea, it’s a place to unwind and savor nature.

The village of Ksamil is about a twenty-minute drive from the city of Saranda in southern Albania, not far from the Greek border. Ksamil Beach, considered one of the most beautiful beaches in the country, is known for its Caribbean-like colors, transparent waters, and white sands.

Gjipe Beach is located in the southern part of the country. Difficult to access, this is what keeps it a wild and untouched paradise. It’s a canyon that hides a pure white sandy beach, creating a stunning contrast with the turquoise and crystal-clear waters.

Borsh, near other localities like Fterra, Piqeras, and Qeparo, offers not only a stunning beach but also numerous activities like sailing, canoeing, kayaking, and water skiing during the day, as well as music (like the South Outdoor Festival) and beach bonfires at night.

As the last city in Albania before the Greek border, Saranda lies just across from Corfu. It’s known for its pleasant city center, featuring a pedestrian waterfront lined with hotels and restaurants, and especially for the magnificent beaches in its immediate surroundings.

Velipoja, just a few dozen kilometers from Shkodra, is the quintessential Albanian seaside town: many amenities, a lengthy beach, and affordable prices. This beach is one of the largest and most popular in Albania, offering a wide range of water activities including surfing, kayaking, stand-up paddleboarding, diving, and snorkeling.

Shëngjin Beach (known as San Giovanni di Medua in Italian) is a beautiful beach located seven kilometers from the historic city of Lezha, known for having around 300 sunny days a year. It boasts breathtaking views and pristine waters.

The stretch of Lalzi Beach and its seabed are adorned with fine, soft sand. From the coast, there’s a picturesque view of mountains, coniferous trees, and green meadows.

Valona, or Vlora in Albanian, is one of the most popular seaside destinations in summer, located along the southern coast, at the beginning of what’s known as the Albanian Riviera. The beach, a mix of sand and pebbles, is quite long – it’s the longest bay in Albania – and during the summer months, it’s equipped with sun loungers and umbrellas. Local venues and restaurants line the promenade.
