American analyst Edward Joseph gave an interview for Euronews Albania during which he commented on his position on the current situation in the Balkans, which has been considered by many as a ‘powder keg’. 

According to him, the situation in the Balkans is very clear but also unstable.

“It is unstable in the north of Kosovo and it is logical that there may be further acts of violence there. We saw the dangerous acts of violence that were confirmed when [two] Kosovo Serbs were shot,” said Joseph.

The analyst maintained that it is the duty of the government of Kosovo to pursue this issue and punish those found responsible.

Joseph also briefly touched upon the situation in Bosnia and Hercegovina, where President Vladimir Putin was recently presented with an important award, which in and of itself disrupts the climate of peace in the Balkans.

On the other hand, even when it comes to Tirana, Joseph suggested that we should steer away from any alternatives, other than those coming from the European Union.

“In Tirana, the mistake is following alternatives other than the European Union. Economic cooperation should be carried out within the framework of the EU and not within the framework of the Open Balkans,” said the American analyst.
