For the second year in a row, Muslim believers will begin the holy month of Ramadan having to comply with the conditions dictated by the pandemic.
Clerics all over Pakistan have urged people to follow all safety procedures, while the country is isolated in order to fight and keep the third wave of the virus at bay.
The current restrictive measures have forced the majority of markets and shopping centers to be closed, whereas fruits and vegetable markets are still allowed. Muslim believers rushed to buy dates which are usually consumed by those that fast during this month.
The month of Ramadan starts today for several states in the US and on Tuesday for the rest of the world. The exact time is dependent upon the visibility of the new moon.
Authorities in Morocco announced that they will keep in force the curfew-hours during the night, whereas in Tunisia the curfew will start at 22:00 p.m.
In many countries, in order to halt the number of infections, the number of visitors in mosques is reduced by 20-30% of their usual capacity.
In addition, masks will also be mandatory. In order to fend off the spread of the virus, large gatherings that usually take place during the traditional Muslim meals before sunrise and after sunset, Suhur and Iftar, which are usually held in the mosque premises, won’t be allowed across the entire region.
