The Ministers of the Republic of Albania and Montenegro have signed the bilateral agreements between the two countries at the end of the joint meeting of the two governments.

The agreements pave the way for the construction of a new customs house in Saint Nicholas-Pulaj and a bridge over the Buna river that will bring the two countries closer together.

These are 2 of the 9 agreements that were signed by Prime Minister Rama and Abazovic.

Other agreements were signed by the respective ministers, including memoranda in the fields of energy, defense, fishing, agriculture, education, sports and culture.

The good neighborliness with Montenegro has become the reason to cooperate even earlier on the construction of road and railway infrastructure, the protection of the Albanian language or the mutual recognition of driving licenses.

Despite the close relations, Montenegro has not yet embraced the Open Balkans initiative, where Serbia, Albania and North Macedonia have become parties so far.
