Journalist Artan Hoxha was summoned by the Tirana Police where he was interrogated in relation to the audio recordings published recently for the January 21st execution of 4 protestors that took place 11 years ago.

In a statement to the press, the journalist declared that what was meant to be made public has been made so and that now it is up to the investigators to assess whether or not it is considered evidence.

“I responded to the call made by the prosecutor’s office that is currently investigating the case. From what I saw, the task has been left to the judicial police. What was to be made public was done by me, and now it remains in the hands of the investigators; they are the ones who evaluate if it is a piece of evidence and if it can become an element that helps the investigation group to find the evidence that will lead to the resolution of the January 21 case. Today it is a fact that even 12 years ago we have 2 people killed on the main boulevard, Hekuran Deda and Aleks Nika, who were executed in front of the cameras without a strong need to do so. Today, an answer must be given by the former prime minister who said that at the time, the national guard enforced the law of arms, but it seems to me that the guard executed innocent citizens by direct orders. He executed citizens who were across the sidewalk [not crossing the border to the prime minister’s office]. As long as these murders are without perpetrators, we must have answers, the current prime minister and the former prime minister must give answers to the families of the victims of January 21”, he said.
