The Government of the Netherlands voted in favor of opening accession negotiations with Albania, however only with one condition: Continues monitoring of the country’s progress.

Dutch MPs have requested the EU Commission to take up this task, as well as guarantee that the Netherlands has its own representative.

The Dutch Parliament is seeking an annual report to illustrate the political situation as well as judicial and migration issues.

The report highlights Albania’s progress in the field of justice and fighting organized crime, as main arguments in favor of opening negotiations.

But the ones who get the final say will be the foreign minister of EU member states on June 22. Also, the meeting will determine whether to decouple Albania and North Macedonia.
