The number of vehicles in Albania is growing every year. With over 1 million cars, Albania records a ratio of 434 vehicles per 1,000 inhabitants.
There are 1,025,000 road vehicles currently in circulation in the country. Compared to the same period in 2024, the total number of vehicles has increased by 9%, while new registrations have also marked growth.
By category, passenger cars make up 81% of all vehicles, followed by motorcycles with 6%, and mixed-transport vehicles also with 6%.
Tirana holds the largest share with 35% of the total vehicles, followed by Durrës with 14%. Gjirokastër and Kukës have the lowest numbers, with 2.2% and 2.4% respectively.
During the last quarter, around 26,000 vehicles were registered for the first time, 82% of which were passenger cars.
Regarding the most widespread brands, Volkswagen maintains first place with 20%, followed by Mercedes-Benz with 17%. The dominance of these brands is linked to the competitive prices of used models, easily available spare parts, and long-standing consumer preference.
