The new production “The Nutcracker”, which will come to the stage of the National Theatre of Opera and Ballet (TKOBAP), will be made accessible for the first time in Albania for people with limited vision through audio-description. The performance will be shown for three consecutive nights, but the vocal description will take place during the premiere on December 22.

For people with limited vision, entry into the hall will be allowed 50 minutes before the start of the show. During this time, the describer will share more details about the marvelous story of “The Nutcracker”. Also, a tour will be conducted to provide a deeper understanding of the piece. While hearing the scene description, individuals with limited vision will have the opportunity to touch parts of the costumes and become familiar with details from the story and characters.

Tickets for the performance with audio-description are free for individuals with the Blind Status Card and their companions.

Real-time audio-description is made possible through the collaboration of the National Theatre of Opera and Ballet with the United Nations Association Albania as part of the “Art Nexus Programme”.

The speaker is specialized in visually interpreting the performance, bringing it to life in the minds of the audience with vivid descriptions of the dancers’ movements, actions, and drama on stage.

“The Nutcracker” is the emblem of year-end performances as it materializes the magic that accompanies the festivities.
