“Man for man does everything he can, especially for the people who have helped us and we are indebted to them.”

This message comes from Durrës, which today more than ever stands in solidarity with the Turkish people after the tragic earthquake of February 6.

“What we have experienced 3 years ago, there is nothing more tragic,” said a citizen. “See the crying scenes, because we experienced it very badly. We are ready to help them with the possibilities we have,” she said.

Although most still live in rented houses, due to the delays in reconstruction, the residents of Durres say they are ready to open the doors of their homes to those who were left in the open sky by the earthquakes.

“Just as they opened their doors to us, when the earthquake happened to us, we are also ready to open to other people who have experienced this disaster, because we have felt it ourselves and are grateful to be alive,” said a citizen.

“We are renting. We definitely open the door for them,” said another.

“There are three of us, 3 rooms and a kitchen, let them come. We are ready to vacate the rooms. Between the snow and the cold, they are left out, it’s too bad,” said another woman.

“If there are reliable organizations from civil society, why not?” – said a citizen “Let’s organize to help the Turkish people as much as possible,” said another.

Therefore, on Sunday, a group of volunteers from Durres will collect aid to send to the Turkish embassy in Tirana.
