The price of sunflower oil has suffered a significant decrease during the last 2 months, reaching the level of the beginning of 2022. On the other hand, in the European Union, this product continues to be sold expensively.

If we go to the market, to the food shelves, sunflower oil is being sold at a price of around 200 lek, according to the trademark, from the 400 lek that it reached last summer. In the group of food goods, this product has suffered a sharp decrease in recent months, returning almost to the price level of the beginning of 2022.

The data released by INSTAT show that inflation in May and in April decreased to 0.8%, while for the entire food basket it has reached 9.6%.

Even in the European Union, since December, it can be seen that there is a trend of price reduction, but the inflation rate for vegetal oil remains high.

In March, the average change was 23%. In countries like Hungary, Denmark and Belgium, the fluctuation is over 30%, while in Croatia and Bulgaria there was more decrease in the prices.

Sunflower oil is used all around the world at all the family and restaurant tables, and the demand for it is high. Ukraine and Russia have a significant share in the supply of the world market, occupying the 8th and 9th place for production and exports.
