Jurist Kreshnik Spahiu declared that the United States are starting to have doubts about a “bargain” between prime minister Edi Rama and former prime minister Sali Berisha.
In an interview for Euronews Albania, Spahiu said that the US will take action about it after the May 14th local elections.
“I think Gabriel Escobar and the US have started doubting of a bargain between Rama and Berisha. The bargain is made so that Rama gets the fourth power, while Berisha gets a few municipalities in these elections. Rama is playing both sides; on the one hand, he maintains good relations with the USA and on the other hand, he guarantees Berisha that he will be untouchable, keeping him as an opposition factor and allowing him to still be in politics, by leaving him crumbs. That’s why the US will analyze the result of the elections and reflect on the matter afterwards,” Spahiu said.
