The Government of Serbia has initiated disciplinary proceedings against an interpreter and dismissed the head of the office for cooperation with the media, due to a report published on the government’s website that referred to Kosovo as the Republic (Republika Kosovo).

As stated in the February 9 announcement of the Serbian Government, the meeting decided to initiate disciplinary proceedings against the translator, who is said to have made a “serious mistake in translating the text into English”, writes REL.

Kosovo declared independence in 2008, but Belgrade refuses to recognize it.

The official position of Serbia is that Kosovo is still part of it. Also, it was decided to dismiss the head of the office for cooperation with the media, where Divna Vidakovic was appointed acting in this position.
