Agents of the Spanish National Police have arrested in the cities of Barcelona and Madrid two Albanian citizens who are suspected of being the leaders of a criminal organization in Albania.

The Iberian media reported that the detained were wanted by the Albanian authorities for the criminal offenses “Attempted murder”, “Structured criminal group”; “Arms without a permit” and “Money laundering”.

They are also accused by Albanian authorities of attempting to execute members of a rival criminal organization.

“Based on the information received last November, the presence of these two persons in our country became known. After several attempts, INTERPOL issued two arrest warrants against the two. The incidents for which they are accused date back to 2021 in Albania, where the criminal organization led by them was preparing to carry out an attack to kill several people involved in the disruption of their criminal drug trafficking activities,” the Spanish police announced.

One of the arrested was caught by police at the Barcelona airport while returning from a trip to Turkey, while the other was found in his apartment in Madrid. The Spanish police also informed that the detained persons are also involved in illegal activities in Spain, including drug trafficking and document forgery.
