Prime Minister Edi Rama said this Wednesday in a meeting with high-level ambassadors for the fight against corruption that without carrying out the reforms, Albania cannot be integrated into the European Union.

During his speech, Rama said that the path that has been started must be completed, he said that Albania is at a significant stage for the performance of its tasks, the deadline for which is 2027.

“The analytical document of about 700 pages and the work done are part of the second half of this year, while the first half was consumed with the spirit of skepticism, doubts and objections or accusations. We are here today to discuss as a very important, fundamental first phase for this process has been completed.

Doubts, hesitations have been really disturbing for me personally because we don’t have the luxury of wasting time on obvious things like sunlight, but a stubborn proof of the fact that the vast majority of sincere supporters of Albania’s European path, including well-wishers critical, they have no idea what this phase of negotiations is. Beyond what it looks and reads superficially, this phase is amazing in terms of the concrete tasks that the Republic of Albania, the entire system, must perform. 6 months while our ambition is to join Albania within the decade, added here, the agreed, very aggressive plan together with the EC for Albania to complete the tasks within 2027 make it impossible for us to live quietly with skepticism, reluctance, let alone accusations or even attempts to hinder the process.
