Eleven current members of the Socialist Party will not be part of the next Albanian Parliament set to begin work in September. Despite being listed as candidates in the open list for the Tirana district, they failed to secure enough votes to win a mandate.

Tirana witnessed the most competitive internal race among political parties. The Socialist Party had placed numerous sitting MPs on the open list, making the contest particularly fierce.

The internal electoral battle within the Socialist camp in Tirana ended in disappointment for 11 MPs who were on the preferential list, where even a single additional vote could have secured them a seat in Parliament.

Among those not returning in September is former Prime Minister Pandeli Majko, a veteran figure who first became an MP in 1992. Another prominent name left out is former Defence Minister Mimi Kodheli, who entered Parliament in 2009.

Other outgoing MPs include Klotilda Bushka, Ermonela Felaj, Xhemal Qefalia, Toni Gogu, Arben Pëllumbi, Etjen Xhafaj, Etilda Gjonaj, and Plarent Ndreca.

With a portion of the diaspora votes still to be counted, Olta Xhaçka and Blerina Gjylameti remain in a tight race for a mandate in the Tirana district.
