As the epidemiological situation has been more stable in the last few weeks, Health Minister Ogerta Manastirliu told the media that healthcare experts are planning to reassess the current pandemic-related measures in force.

However, minister Manastirliu reiterated that the reopening must be “gradual” and “under control”.

“I believe that the Technical Experts Committee will meet in the next two days to review the measures. We’re thinking about relaxing some of the measures, however, the reopening will be controlled and gradual”, said Manastirliu.

During a visit at the hospital of Elbasan, the health minister informed that wards treating patients with COVID-19 in regional hospitals will be soon shut down given the declining hospitalizations, while authorities are looking at the chances to treat patients all in one hospital.

“Today, the epidemiological situation is very much under control. The fact that we are shutting down [COVID-19] wards in regional hospitals, and gathering all patients to treat them in one hospital, shows that it is time to review the current pandemic related measures”, said minister Manastirliu.
