Tirana suffered a 2-0 defeat at “Air Albania” Stadium and was eliminated from European competitions.

After the previous week’s loss in Turkey, the “White and Blues” were unable to overturn the victory of the Turkish team, Beşiktaş.

Despite coach Orges Shehi’s faithful efforts, the team was not efficient enough in the green field.

Goals were scored only in the second half by Daniel Amartey and Vincent Aboubakar, while the Istanbul team finished the match with ten players following a red card for Arthur Masuaku, who made a harsh tackle against Brazilian player Kainã Nunes da Silva Amarante.

Orges Shehi’s boys had some opportunities to score, but Florent Hasani, Kainã, Ardit Deliu, and Kristal Abazaj failed to translate these chances to actual goals.

More than Tirana’s elimination, what left a bitter taste was the chaos and violence that accompanied this match before and after its conclusion.

The match started with a 15-minute delay and even risked not being played due to the chaos caused by fans of both teams.

Flares and pyrotechnic devices were thrown onto the field, and clashes between supporters broke out, requiring intervention from law enforcement to calm the situation.

Beşiktaş will now face the Azerbaijani team Neftchi Baku in the third round, meanwhile Tirana concludes its journey in the European cups in the second round.
