The Municipality of Tirana was awarded the “Capital of Innovation” award for local government in the 7th edition of the “Angi-OSCAR” national awards, held this week in Rome. After receiving the award, the mayor Erion Veliaj said that this is an appreciation for the effort of the whole team of the Municipality of Tirana, to have a solidary city with high standards for children in nurseries, kindergartens and schools.

“Tirana was awarded the innovation award for local government. it is an extraordinary pleasure because the effort of the team of our municipality, but also of all the citizens of Tirana, to produce a success story city, to produce a solidary city, that keeps pace with demographic growth, making sure to bring innovation to the services for children, nurseries, kindergartens and the new schools we have built is appreciated. I am really proud of all these achievements”, declared Veliaj.

He said that after several consecutive titles in the past years, in January 2025 Tirana starts preparations as the Mediterranean Capital of Culture and Dialogue, to show once again that it is the most beautiful postcard of modern and European Albania.

“I am proud of all the achievements of Tirana and I look forward to – after being the European Capital of Youth, the European Capital of Sport – we start preparations to be the Mediterranean Capital of Culture and Dialogue 2025, together with Alexandria in Egypt. I am sure that Tirana will manage to organize super activities, will have a big welcoming heart and will show that it is the most beautiful postcard of modern and European Albania. I look forward to creating this bridge through innovation with the Albanian boys and girls who have produced success in Italy. I am glad that today Tirana has been declared the Capital of Innovation in the group of capitals that have been considered for this award, and I look forward to transforming many of the creative ideas we have from Albanian boys and girls in Tirana”, said the mayor.
