The Mufti of Tirana has reacted after the marriage of two women in Tirana, who were crowned by a priest who came from abroad, whom the Catholic Church claimed was not their representative.
Through a statement, the Mufti of Tirana has come out against such a marriage, arguing that the marriage between two individuals of the same gender is a legally unfounded act.
Also, the Mufti, through the announcement, says that it has conveyed the concern of thousands of believers and citizens of Tirana, for an act that, according to them, does not represent the worldview, religion or tradition of Albanians.
Likewise, the Mufti has called on the institutions to be careful about such events, not profiling in the opposite direction to the vast majority of Albanian voters and taxpayers.
Declaration of the Mufti of Tirana:
The Tirana mufti has followed with concern the legally unfounded act of a “marriage” between two individuals of the same gender held in the premises of a state institution.
With the same intensity, the Mufti of Tirana conveys the concern of thousands of believers and citizens of Tirana, who feel irritated before such an act which does not represent the worldview, religion or tradition of Albanians.
The development of such a procedure contrary to the Albanian law and the Family Code of the Republic of Albania is a dangerous action to legalize and normalize a process that tends to be imposed unwillingly through the destruction of our family and national culture.
We advise and call on the institutions to be careful about such events, not profiling in the opposite direction to the vast majority of Albanian voters and taxpayers.
The Tirana mufti remains fully and strongly engaged in the support and promotion of family values as the essence of the societies created by God the Exalted for the well-being of humanity.
It also remains engaged in the promotion of any act that aims at the moral elevation of our national consciousness as well as any venture that leads to our material or spiritual public well-being.
Mufti of Tirana
