Tonight at midnight expires the deadline that was left to the mandate holder, Miodrag Lekić, to try to form the new government of Montenegro.
On the other hand, there is no possibility that the necessary majority for the still-incumbent Prime Minister, Dritan Abazovic, will remain at the head of the executive, writes Euronews Serbia. Abazovic is one vote short and the leader of United Montenegro, Goran Danilovic, has made it clear that he will not support such a government. The only solution is for Lekic to return the mandate to the President of Montenegro, Milo Djukanovic, which he will use to dissolve the Assembly and announce extraordinary parliamentary elections.
The majority in power is running out of time and it remains to be seen whether the URA party and Danilovic will surrender today or whether Montenegro will go to early parliamentary elections.
