Former Interior Minister Sander Lleshaj told Euronews Albania that the state police must undergo a deep transformation and reformation.
According to him, it is necessary to increase the number of police officers and restructure several bodies, in order to have more officers on the ground.
The State Police said the former minister, has an excessive number of directors but it is lacking police officers needed in the ground.
“We need to increase the number of police officers and restructure those dispatched at the ground. We need to remove bureaucracies, at the police, there are too many directors, but it actually needs more operators”, said Lleshaj.
He also endorsed the idea of having the Military Forces serve among the ranks of the police, due to their adequate training.
