This summer, Albania has been visited by a record number of tourists. More than any year before, tourist destinations are filled with tourists from all over Europe, and not only.

For experts in the sector, the lack of information, services and transport are the main points that need to be improved in the future.

“Individual tourism is not very organized due to a lack of information, the consumption of the product, of the destination is not as high as it would be if it were organized,” said tourist operator Besnik Vathi.

“In general, public services and prices. It has been difficult to go from Saranda to Ksamil by public transport due to the insufficient number of urban residents, the long wait at the urban stations, the lack of timetables and the lack of coordination,” said operator Flora Xhamani Baba.

Also asked about the Prime Minister’s statement on low cost tourism, which will not last as the country must be ready for an elite tourism, experts claim that the increase in prices must be accompanied by higher quality, which can only be achieved with the addition of public services and investments.

“Choosing the type of tourism is not in anyone’s hands. All countries have organized elite tourism. Even other countries that have developed tourism have low cost tourism. Doing elite tourism is part of many infrastructure investments. Elite tourism requires roads without a lot of traffic, services and elite service providers. Elite tourism is a part and consequence of successive developments,” Vathi said.

According to data from INSTAT, from January to July of this year, more than 5 million foreign citizens visited Albania.
