Daily Mail has dedicated an article to British tourists coming in Albania emphasizing that Albania is experiencing a tourism “boom” thanks to picturesque beaches, cheap hotels and restaurants.

More than 120 thousand citizens of the United Kingdom are already regular visitors to the Albanian Riviera and beyond. The mountainous part of the Balkan peninsula will be even more attractive to Britons this winter when Ryanair and Wizz Air launch new flights.

Last month saw the most searches for travel from the UK to Albania since the start of 2022 and searches last month were 58 per cent more than in July a year earlier.

MailOnline research today has found that the average meal for two in a mid-range restaurant in Albania is just £29 in total, while a beer will cost an average of £1.67.

The cheapest popular destinations in Albania for a meal seem to be Shkodra and Vlora where two people, according to the Daily Mail, only need to pay £21, while the cheapest place for a beer is Berat at 80 pence.

Data compiled by cost of living database Numbeo also reveals that Tirana is the most expensive place for a meal out, but it’s still cheap for Brits who have to pay £33 for two.

Hotels are also very reasonably priced, with Booking.com data showing that hotels in Tirana cost £41 a night for three stars, £60 for four stars and £116 for five stars.

Even cheaper accommodation can be found in the picturesque medieval town of Berat, where a three-star hotel costs just £31 a night on average. As high inflation continues to cause a cost of living crisis in Britain, many families are looking for more affordable options when planning holidays abroad.

Albania is currently enjoying its most successful tourism year to date, having welcomed 3.4 million foreign nationals during the first six months of this year.

This is a 33 percent increase in 2022, according to the Institute of Statistics. According to the data, June alone had more than one million visits, 15 percent more than in the same period last year.

The increase is high compared to 2010 when Albania received only 1.28 million foreign tourists throughout the year.

In 2019, there were nearly 3.3 million tourists in Albania for the entire year, but now a similar number are entering the country in just six months.

According to experts quoted by the Daily Mail, Albania is considered not only an attractive and economic destination, but also a very popular one.
