Gjirokastra Castle, thanks to its historical and architectural values, is one of the most attractive points for locals and foreign tourists visiting Albania. 

Even during these cold winter days, the Gjirokastra Castle is one of the favorite monuments for visitors who enjoy historical and cultural tourism. 

Argjiro’s Castle has now also become an important point for tourist guides and tourism development.

Even in the cold season, the stone castle of Gjirokastra welcomes visitors from different countries of the world. Once here, they are able to have a close experience with the stone walls and banyans, which have witnessed numerous important historical events.

In addition, this monument also serves as a natural stage for the organization of the National Folk Festival.

“We are very excited, my father-in-law has danced here in 3 festivals. When we saw the scene we were amazed. As a monument, it is very beautiful and attractive”, says a visitor.

“We are from Prishtina. Last night we came to Gjirokaster, now we have come to see the castle. There are many good restorations and everything looks very nice. But we hope it will continue like this in the part that was being restored and we hope there will be as many visitors as possible because it is definitely worth it, it is very beautiful”, said a couple from Kosovo.

During 2022, Gjirokastra Castle was visited by about 180 thousand tourists, while the number of visits plans to witness another increase during 2023, mainly by foreign tourists.
