The import of goods in Kosovo reached 582 million euros in August of this year, which is an increase of 11.2 percent. Meanwhile, the value of export goods was worth 83.5 million euros, which is an increase of 24 percent, compared to the month of August of this year with the same month of 2023.
According to these data published by the Statistics Agency of Kosovo (ASK), it can be seen that the export and import of goods has a big difference in Kosovo.
According to these statistics, the trade deficit is 9.4 percent in August 2024, compared to August 2023, reports KosovaPress.
“The export of goods in August 2024 was worth 83.5 million Euros, while the import was 582.0 million Euros, which is an increase of 24.0% for export, as well as an increase of 11.2% for import, comparing with the same period of 2023”, says the ASK report.
According to this Agency, Kosovo’s imports with other countries of the world reached 264.6 million euros, or 45.5 percent.
“The countries with the highest import participation in this group were: Turkey (15.1%) and China (12.9%)”, says the latest ASK report.
Whereas, according to the data of the main import groups: 15.9% are mineral products; 14.2% are prepared foods, drinks and tobacco; 11.4% are machines, mechanical and electrical equipment; 10.4% are base metals and their articles; 9.9% are the means of transport; etc.
According to the data of the main export groups: 19.6% are base metals and their articles; 19.2% are mineral products; 11.4% are prepared foods, drinks and tobacco; 11.0% consists of plastics, tires and their articles; 10.3% are various manufactured items; etc.
ASK announces that Kosovo’s exports with other countries of the world reached 15.8 million euros, or 18.9%.
“The most important partners from these countries for export were: Switzerland (10.1%) and the USA (2.2%)”.
This time, for the month of August, ASK has not shown about imports from EU countries and trade relations with CEFTA countries.
In July, Kosovo’s exports to EU countries reached 26.4 million Euros, or about 30.8% of total exports, with an increase of 19.4%. The main partners for the export of goods to the EU were: Germany (9.6%), Italy (3.58%), the Netherlands (2.4%), etc.
Likewise, in July, Kosovo’s imports from EU countries were around 270.9 million Euros, or 46.6% of total imports, with an increase of 20.7%. Imports with the highest participation were from: Germany (13.9%), Italy (6.8%), Greece (4.5%), etc.
Exports of Kosovo with CEFTA countries
In July, Kosovo’s exports with CEFTA countries reached 45.0 million Euros, or 52.4% of total exports, with an increase of 63.1%. The main export partners from the CEFTA countries were: Albania (21.9%), North Macedonia (16.6%), Montenegro (6.5%), Serbia (5.8%).
Imports from CEFTA countries reached 66.7 million Euros, or 11.5% of total imports, with a decrease of (-9.8%). The countries with the highest import share were: Albania (5.1%), North Macedonia (3.8%), Serbia (1.5%)./Kosovapress
