The candidate for MP of the Democratic Conviction, Arben Skënderi, said that the dominant political parties are the reason and cause of the country’s current state.
“Everybody is talking about changing the system, but where does that start from? These are the same people, they are the reason and the cause of the current state, but at the same time, they want to be the solution to it all. That’s impossible”, sad Skënderi.
Appearing as a guest on Euronews Albania’s weekly “Ilva Now”, the MP candidate believes that traditional parties are dreaded by the idea that new forces might potentially enter the Albanian parliament.
“The idea that other alternatives might be entering the parliament horrors them. This is the issue”, he stated.
According to him, unlike previous years, citizens have the opportunity to choose among different alternatives and this has led candidates to campaign for the party, not for themselves.
Skënderi explained that his party’s target group are people that want a “normal approach”, “free from violence or political pressures”.
His message to the so-called grey electorate, commonly referred to as voters that are “distrustful of the political classes”, was that this time they have “an alternative on whom to vote for”.
The Democratic Conviction candidate said that people no longer want to vote for political parties, but for individuals instead.
“People want to vote for personalities. They want to know whom and why they’re casting the vote for”, concluded Skënderi.
