The police have exercised increased controls in order to increase road safety parameters in the capital.

Special importance has been given to the punishment of drivers who, contrary to the Highway Code, have attempted to bribe Police officers, in order to avoid legal obligations or administrative measures.

During the period January – July 2023, 66 vehicle drivers were caught red-handed who attempted to bribe police officers, for whom the materials were referred to the Prosecutor’s Office at the Court of First Instance of the General Jurisdiction of Tirana, for the criminal offense “Active corruption of persons who exercise public functions”.
