A serious incident happened on Sunday, a few kilometers away from the village of Gjerbes.
A Turkish citizen died accidentally in a construction site where marble tiles are extracted. 60-year-old Osman Akçay was working when the water tank of one of the company’s trucks broke off during the climb of the vehicle in the mountainous area and trapped him.
Turkish citizen died on the spot and his dead body will be sent to the Institute of Forensic Medicine in Tirana where an autopsy will be performed. Officials from the Skrapar Police Station and Berat DVP have gone to the scene and are working to clarify the causes of the incident.
Official police sources confirm that the event was accidental and that the marble extraction firm was owned by a Greek citizen.
