A shocking case of domestic violence has been made public in the Greek media, where the protagonists are two Albanians.

The 28-year-old man, Aurel Kurti, kept his 22-year-old wife locked up and brutally raped for a period of 2 years.

The 22-year-old moved from Albania to Volos in 2021 after marrying her 28-year-old compatriot.

Aurel Kurti is described as a cruel husband who never let his wife learn Greek and have contact with other people.

According to the Greek media, the violence increased when the gender of their child was revealed, as the 28-year-old did not want a girl.

“When the child was born, the mother and the baby lived for five months with closed shutters and no sunlight. The beatings were daily and the 28-year-old did not allow the mother to go to the doctor for the child’s vaccinations, nor to call the doctor at home”, writes Protothema.

The serious case of violence and torture of the woman and the child was discovered on the evening of September 21.

It was the neighbors of the Albanian couple who mobilized after hearing the screams of the 22-year-old from inside the house.

When they persistently knocked on the door, the 28-year-old opened it and tried to escape, while the residents stopped him and notified the police, who arrested him and investigated the incident.
