The United States Embassy in Tirana has called on citizens to be cautious about attempts to obtain immigration documents through marriage.

In a notice published on its official Facebook page, the Embassy emphasized that marriage fraud is a federal crime in the United States and is punishable by serious legal consequences.

“Marriage fraud is a federal crime in the United States and can lead to severe penalties,” the Embassy stressed.

According to the announcement, citizens are urged to always follow legal immigration pathways to enter the United States and to obtain the proper documentation.

“Always choose a lawful immigration process to enter the country and secure the necessary documentation,” the notice concludes.
