The U.S. Department of State has announced that it will temporarily halt the processing of immigrant visas for citizens of 75 countries, including Albania. According to the published document, the suspension will begin on January 21.
Based on the official statement, the measure was taken on the grounds that immigrants from these countries “receive social assistance from the American people at unacceptable rates.” The suspension will remain in effect until the United States ensures that new immigrants will not benefit financially from the U.S. budget.
