The leaders of the European Union and the Western Balkans will meet on Wednesday, December 13, in Brussels.
The focus of this meeting is expected to be on tensions between Kosovo and Serbia and the normalization of relations between the two countries, one of the main issues that concerns the entire region.
This issue will also be reflected in the joint statement to be signed by all present leaders.
Radio Free Europe has revealed part of this statement, where both parties, Kosovo and Serbia, will be called upon for a serious commitment to the implementation of recommendations and the normalization agreement.
At this summit, Kosovo will be represented by President Vjosa Osmani, and Serbia by Prime Minister Ana Brnabić.
Part of the statement will also be the EU’s commitment to accelerating the integration process for the countries in the region, based on the individual merits of each country.
But although there is talk of accelerating the integration process, Greece threatens to veto Albania over the Fredi Beleri issue.
The possible veto for the country is expected to be one of the other issues to be discussed at this summit.
Out of the 27 EU countries, Greece is the only state that has not signed the joint document for the opening of five fundamental chapters of negotiations, first demanding the swearing-in of Fredi Beleri as mayor of Himara.
But just a few days ago, Prime Minister Rama, who confirmed his participation in the summit, made it clear that Albania’s stance on the Beleri issue would not change either before or after the December 13 meeting.
