President Bajram Begaj held a meeting today with Mrs. Ursula von der Leyen, the President of the European Commission.
The acceleration of the integration process in the European Union, the security situation in Europe and the Western Balkans, regional cooperation in the optics of the Berlin Process were the main topics that were elaborated in the Begaj – Von Der Leyen meeting.
“Albania is determined on its journey towards the European Union,” Begaj underlined in this meeting.
Focusing on the critical security situation that Europe and the Western Balkans are going through, President Begaj assured Mrs. Von Der Leyen that “Albania continues to support and be aligned with the foreign and security policies of the EU.”
President Begaj used this meeting to welcome the positions of the European Union for the stabilization of peace in the region, demanding that the Serbian terrorist attack of September 24 against a sovereign country such as Kosovo should be punished.
Describing as a historic event the holding of the Summit of the leaders of the Berlin Process for the first time in a country of the Western Balkans on Tuesday in Tirana, President Begaj expressed that he is confident that this summit will promote better relations between the countries of Western Balkans and that it will build the right tracks for the creation of an economic market in the area, tracks that will then be extended towards the common market of the European Union.
