The US ambassador to Albania, Yuri Kim called the appointment of the newest High Court judge, Artur Kalaja an “important step for the implementation of the justice reform” in our country. Through a post on her personal Twitter account, the chief US diplomat stated that the appointment of the 8^th High Justice paves the way for the 9^th and 10^th member that would finally resolve the issue of the Constitutional Court.

President Meta decreed the appointment of the new judge earlier today. Kalaja was one of the three candidatures that exhibited a “high ethical and professional integrity” during the procedure that began back in July by the High Judicial Council (KLGJ) with the goal of completing the vacancies of the High Court.

The other candidates were Asim Vokshi and Gent Medja. KLGJ proposed Kalaja as a judge in the field of civil rights.
