To the backdrop of his campaign song, Prime Minister Edi Rama, accompanied by his wife and children, arrived at Skanderbeg Square, where he was greeted by supporters following the victory in the May 11 elections.
Speaking before citizens gathered in the square, Rama said that Albania chose the stars over the fake hat.
“Between the light of Europe and the darkness of the hole of a fake hat, Albania chose the light. With our voice and old radios, with a few tiki-takas, Albania chose our choir. Thank you, Albania. In my memory, saying the word ‘victory’ has never been harder than it is for this particular win,” said Rama.
“This victory speech has been the hardest to deliver, just like this win has been one of historic achievement,” he continued, thanking Albanians for their vote.
Rama also mentioned his parents, saying he hopes they will forgive him for the way his political opponents have spoken of them, and that he believes they are watching from above, proud of his achievements.
He added that this victory, which he rates as a perfect 10, was something he had felt coming and finds anything but unbelievable.
