President of the European Commission, Ursula von der Leyen, was on an official visit to Pristina this Monday, where she discussed the issue of the Kosovo-Serbia dialogue and the normalization of relations between the two countries.
Von der Leyen invited Kosovo to officially start the procedure for the implementation of the Association.
On the other hand, the president of the European Commission called on Serbia to take concrete steps for the recognition of Kosovo.
“We invite Kosovo to start the procedure for the implementation of the Association, while Serbia must accept de-facto recognition. This is the only way to move forward”, said the president of the EC.
She added that the same call for recognition will be made in Belgrade, during the visit to Serbia that is expected to be held in the framework of the Balkan tour.
“Even in Serbia, I will also discuss the steps that Serbia should take for de-facto recognition”, said Von der Leyen.
The President of the EC also condemned the attack undertaken by Serbian paramilitaries in Banjska.
“We strongly condemn the violent attacks of September 24, and express our condolences to the families, friends and colleagues of the murdered policeman. Such an attack is completely unacceptable, and the perpetrators must be brought to justice,” Von der Leyen said.
