The press office of the Government of Kosovo announced that the President of the European Commission Von der Leyen wrote a letter to Kurti in which she described the next round of the talks as “essential” and must happen “as soon as possible”.

In the letter, she welcomed the pledge of Kosovo’s premier to be engaged in the process brokered by the EU.

“I welcome your commitment constructively in the EU-facilitated Belgrade-Pristina dialogue. It is essential that the next high-level meeting of the dialogue can take place as soon as possible”, wrote the President of the EU Commission.

Ahead of the next round of discussions between Kosovo and Serbia set to take place on July 25, the Prime Minister of Kosovo Albin Kurti presented his 4 points on advancing ties with Serbia.

During a General Council meeting of Vetëvendosje, PM Kurti said that dialogue with Serbia cannot last forever and that it is not about Kosovo’s status, but over the relationship status of Kosovo and Serbia.

Secondly, he spoke over an agreement resembling the shape and substance of an international treaty and underlined that “Kosovo’s independence is a compromise made 13 years ago”.

The last time that PM Kurti met the Serbian President was on June 15, a meeting that was characterized by more tensions, while parties failed to reach any agreement.
