The vote of the Diaspora is in the last procedural steps of preparing the infrastructure so that Albanians who live and work abroad can vote even without coming to Albania. Pending the date of the elections to be determined by President Bajram Begaj, immigrants will have time to register between 120 and 68 days before the date of the elections.
Registration will take place on the Electronic Platform for Immigrant Registration, in which voters from abroad will have to present a valid document of the country where they live or a proof of residential address, where the envelope with the vote will be sent to you from the CEC.
After the phase of their registration on this platform is closed, the list will be received by the CEC, which, after making a verification, deregisters all immigrants registered abroad from the list of voters inside the country.
There is no deadline yet for the date of sending the vote, as it will depend on the time of printing the ballot for each district, but the return of the envelope with the vote from the immigrant must arrive at the CEC, no later than the day of the vote.
Until these moments, all the steps taken by the Regulatory Commission at the CEC are leading to the finalization of this process. The only concern so far concerns the tight deadlines, which may then increase the cost of the diaspora vote as it may require the use of express mails that allow the envelope with the ballot to be sent and returned to a faster time.
