The President of Serbia, Aleksandar Vučić, is staying in Paris, where he will meet with the President of France, Emmanuel Macron.
Vučić published a video on his Instagram account, in which he said that he feels “in a fever and in charge before today’s meetings”.
Earlier, he warned that he placed a wreath of flowers on the “Loyalty for Loyalty” memorial plaque in front of the Invalides Palace in Paris, which is a symbol of the alliance between the Serbian and French peoples in two world wars.
“France and its people will always have reliable partners and friends who love them, as France has loved us. Glory to our ancestors and long live Serbian-French friendship”, wrote the Serbian president.
Talks between Vučić and his French counterpart, Macron, are expected to start around 8:00 p.m., after which a joint media conference is planned, followed by a dinner between the leaders.
Before his departure for Paris, Vučić has announced that he will discuss 14 topics with the French president – from industry and agriculture to artificial intelligence and nuclear energy.
On April 5, the Government of Serbia approved a Memorandum of Understanding with the French energy company EDF, for the establishment of a cooperation relationship for energy transition, which, as explained by the Ministry of Energy of Serbia, creates the conditions for a strategic partnership in assessing the potential for the development of a civilian nuclear program in Serbia.
The Elysee Palace announced earlier that the two leaders will discuss the European integration of Serbia and the relations between Serbia and Kosovo, that Macron will “confirm his commitment and his full support for the European integration of Serbia”, and that “the normalization of relations with Kosovo is an integral part of the membership process” in the European Union.
