The war in the Middle East could cost Albania 5.8 billion ALL in lost imports.
This is the figure according to the INSTAT database on the absolute capital of goods imported from Israel last year.
Albania and Israel have 32 years of mutual relations, not only diplomatic but also commercial. The exchange of goods between the two countries has intensified in recent years, where only last year, the imports of goods from the Jewish state have increased over 40.5% and over the last few years, they have doubled.
Categories of imports traded in Albania from Israel are among the most diverse. Mining fuels, oil and by-products account for the largest share of import products, with over 90%. Last year alone, a total of 5.4 billion ALL of mineral materials were imported.
Plastic materials and products as well as optical or photographic instruments are the two most important imported categories, with a value of 115.9 million and 67.9 million ALL, respectively.
Israeli products account for 0.6% of the total imports traded in Albania. The percentage of weight they occupy results in an increase over the years, but the ongoing war may raise many questions about the continuity of trade relations.
