Lawyer Besart Logu stated that the recently published audio recording of the radio communication of the former head of the guard, Ndrea Prendi with his subordinates during the January 21 demonstration, is edited and a piece of evidence that is biased and highly premeditated.

In an interview for Euronews Albania, Logu stated that at that time, only the commander of the Republic Guard had the authority to give the order to open fire.

“Regarding the audio recording, apart from the fact that it was not taken in the form required by law, it must meet certain criteria to be considered legal and to have an opportunity to restart an investigation. To me, it seems biased as a piece of evidence, it is quoted on the radio that the minister is looking for you, so it is about Mr. Basha. But there is something, in the law on the Guard of the Republic, the dependence of the Guard is administrative and functional-material. The Guard of the Republic at the time of January 21 depended on the Ministry of the Interior. That audio recording seems edited, premeditated, and he quotes the Minister of the Interior, while the Minister of the Interior does not have the authority to order killings by opening fire, and bullets, this is a functional-material competence. Legally, he has no right to issue an order to open fire, because he does not have this competence. This competence belonged to the head of the institution, Mr. Ndrea Prendi”, he emphasized.
