The leader of the Democratic Party, Lulzim Basha, met with a group of students who have returned to their home country after studying abroad.

The opposition leader said that the fact that these students have returned to their homeland “is a message of hope” and “a sign for the need for change” at a time when the Albanian youth sees fleeing as the only solution.

Basha said that the current regime “favours a group of people on the back of the others”. According to the Democratic leader, the system built by PM Edi Rama does not “leave space for correction”, hence it must “come down”.

With the DP in power, Basha said that the budget will be for the people, and not for the interests of a few.

“Edi Rama is sending the country towards total collapse with his fake promises, clientelist policies, and laws that favour businesses that stand by him, while denying any space to new entrepreneurs. Therefore, the change is what the youth wants. To bring a change for the country, for the economy, for the youngsters, and this comes with the departure of Rama. We will fight monopolies that are choking the economy”, said Basha.

The head of the DP vowed to subsidize 100% of school tariffs for students of excellence coming from household with an income below 64.000 ALL (about €516).
