In the local elections on May 14, the Socialist Party will face 2 opposition candidates.

Sali Berisha and Ilir Meta with their coalition have already closed the accounts for the candidates they will run with in the May 14 race.

With the exception of 5 municipalities, which were left to the allies, in all other municipalities, Berisha’s DP has confirmed its candidates and they have already started preparations for their electoral campaign.

Alibeaj is a little behind on this process, as he has announced candidates for only 9 municipalities.

Thus, so far, the double race within the opposition has been confirmed in the municipalities of Mallakaster between Agron Kapllanaj and Resmi Shanaj, in Polican between Florian Qamos and Behar Xhaferraj.

In Kucovo, the confrontation will be between Ilirjan Koxhaj from Alibeaj’s DP faction and Lefter Maliqi from the Freedom Party.

Kamza reserves the confrontation between Arjan Hoxha and Bilbil Bajraktari, two figures who have led the party in this branch.

In Lezha, the challenge within the opposition is between Sander Marku and Pashk Gjon, in Kruja, Sabah Sheta and Agron Loka, in Kurbin, Genc Doci and Behar Haxhiu.

In addition, Gentian Meci and Dritan Sula will run against each other in Dimal, and in Dibcr the race will be between Naim Gazidede and Ismail Uka.

There’s much interest regarding Alibeaj’s choice of candidate in important municipalities such as Tirana, Durres, Elbasan and Shkoder.

In these four municipalities, Berisha has concentrated his efforts, choosing to run with important figures within the Democratic Party.

As the court’s decision is still pending, it remains to be seen which of the candidates will be registered with the DP logo in the Central Electoral Commission (CEC).
