Albania has seen low infection rates in the past weeks, with no deaths recorded in at least 10 days, while the estimated number of active cases across the country is 55.

In light of these positive trends, several countries have decided to lift travel bans for those traveling from Albania. France opened its borders for 38 countries, including Albania and North Macedonia.

However, a negative PCR test or an antigen test done in the last 72 hours, is required prior to entering French territory.

COVID-19 has claimed the lives of 2,456 citizens in Albania, while the country has logged more than 132,000 positive cases.

In North Macedonia over 155,000 citizens have tested positive for the virus, while the official death toll is 5,484.

Finland has also lifted a travel ban for arrivals from Albania and North Macedonia.

Just recently, Germany joined the list of countries that have opened their borders to Albania and North Macedonia, including non-vaccinated citizens.

Austria has removed all travel measures and Albanian citizens can enter the country freely, without being required to present a negative COVID-19 test.

Other countries that have made similar moves are Denmark and the Netherlands.

Many other countries are expected to follow suit, although a similar move from Italy and the UK has been highly anticipated due to the high number of Albanian immigrants residing in those countries who wish to return home for the summer holidays.
