Albania has the lowest number of doctors in relation to the population in all of Europe.

This conclusion comes from the World Health Organization, which informs that in Albania in 2020 the number of doctors per 10,000 inhabitants is 18.8 doctors, the lowest level in Europe and in the region.

After Albania, Turkey has the lowest number of white shirts per inhabitant with 20.4 doctors per 10 thousand inhabitants and then Bosnia with 21 doctors, followed by Montenegro with 27.4 doctors per 10 thousand inhabitants.

On the other hand, Greece tops the list for the high number of doctors per 10,000 inhabitants. In 2020, this country had 63.1 doctors per 10,000 inhabitants followed by Portugal, Austria and Norway.

The developed countries of Europe have over 40 doctors per 10,000 inhabitants. Even Moldova, which is one of the poorest countries in Europe, has 40.6 doctors per 10,000 inhabitants.

In the region, Serbia has the highest number of doctors per inhabitant with 36.7 per 10,000 inhabitants.

In 1990, Albania had 13.7 doctors per 10,000 inhabitants.

In 2018, the indicator increased to 21.5 doctors per inhabitants, but the strong migration in this group, especially towards Germany, worsened the indicator again during 2018-2020, which reached 18.8 doctors per 10 thousand inhabitants.
