In the May 14 elections, the Democratic Party is expected to field 2 candidates in many of the municipalities.

Berisha and Meta have candidates ready in all municipalities, except for those they have left to small allies and Malesia e Madhe, where the candidate will be chosen by Democrats in the area.

Alibeaj warned at the end of December that the group he leads will have candidates in all municipalities, but so far he has only presented them in 9 municipalities, mostly small units.

Meanwhile, an interesting development that has been observed in recent weeks has to do with the commitment of the MPs in the campaign for the May 14 elections.

There are at least 4 MPs who so far recognize Alibeaj as the chairman of the parliamentary group, but for May 14 they are supporting Berisha’s candidates to emerge from the primaries.

Thus, Ilida Dhori in Divjaka has come out openly in support of the candidate Aurel Malko for this municipality. Even the Devolli MP, Bledjon Nallbati, has done the same for the race in this municipality. The democratic MP is leading the campaign for the candidate who emerged from the primaries, Elvis Hajdërlli.

Several other MPs have done the same, such as Dashnor Sula in Peqin and Belsh, or Dhurata Cupi in Mat.

Earlier in December, Kurbin’s MP, Kastriot Piroli, made this same move too. Meanwhile, in Malesia e Madhe, the name of MP Ramadan Lika has been rumored for some time now.
