There is a need to have an electoral reform in our country, said Ivi Kaso on tonight’s Raw Politics, adding that the Democratic Party is willing to decide over the reform together with the ruling majority in parliament.
“Parties should stop and point out the findings of a problematic process, analyze the conclusion of the OSCE-ODIHR report, and decide jointly”, said Kaso.
The Democratic Party’s Secretary on Electoral Affairs said that the reform must guarantee standards that were not achieved in the last parliamentary elections.
He also added OSCE/ODIHR emphasized in its report that it is “imperative” to have a new electoral reform after the elections.
According to Kaso, the Socialist majority changed the Electoral Code “unilaterally” in aspects that “affected and distorted” the entire electoral process.
“As proved by the latest ruling of the Constitutional Court”, he said.
The Constitutional Court repealed several articles in the Electoral Code determining the quotients and the distribution of the mandates.
