Berat has returned to the center of wine lovers this weekend, where the third edition of the “Wine & Stories” Wine Festival has started.

This edition has gathered in the city center 41 wineries from Albania, Kosovo and the Arbëresh area of ​​Italy.

Positioned in the central square of the city, all the wine cellars had exhibited their best productions of wines and brandies of all kinds.

“We are here in the third edition of this festival about the history of wine, our winery is represented by varieties that are indigenous to the Leskoviki and Përmet area, but also international varieties, among them we can mention shiraz, cabernet sauvignon”, said Majlinda Guri of Vreshti Pashait winery.

“We have Albanian red, it is an autochthonous Albanian variety, so it is a bottle composed of two autochthonous varieties”, said Altin Driza from Kantina Faba.

According to Nesti Bellos, Administrator of one of the wineries participating in this festival, even though the quality of Albanian wines has grown by leaps and bounds, the consumption of foreign wines is higher than the indigenous ones.

“In terms of consumption, it is a pity, but we Albanians are consuming more foreign wines than Albanians, years ago they were probably right because the wineries in Albania had not adjusted the quality much, while today our autochthonous variety but also those The international grapes that we plant here have received awards at the European and world level”, said the administrator of the Bello winery.

Not only Berat citizens but also foreign tourists joined the wine celebration where they had the opportunity to go to the stands to try the variety of wine flavors.

The wine festival, which will last for three consecutive days and nights in Berat, will include: the participation of the best sommeliers, awarding of prizes for the best wineries, tasting of the most diverse wines, fairs and live concerts.
