With red and black flags, students in Kosovo protest against the Association

Students of the University of Prishtina “Hasan Prishtina” and other citizens organized a march in Prishtina earlier today, to voice their stance against the establishment of the Association of municipalities with a Serbian majority.

With slogans such as “Association does not pass”, “I do not accept Association that Bosniazes us”, “Together against Association”, “Kosova Republic, there is no Zajednica” and similar, the students, under the organization of the UP Student Parliament, started their march from the National Library and stopped in front of the Kosovo Government building.

The organizers of this march argued that the establishment of ethnic associations in the countries of the region has created a “state within a state”.

They said that such an association would not advance the rights of the Serbian community in Kosovo, but would “instrumentalize” the Serbs living in Kosovo.

“We do not accept the Association of municipalities with a Serbian majority that directly violates the peace, sovereignty and territorial integrity of the country”, said one of the students. Kosovo and Serbia have reached two agreements – within the dialogue mediated by the European Union – for the establishment of the Association.
